Nutanix Infrastructure Capabilities
Through our strategic partnership with Nutanix, Sword works with our customers to help them modernise their infrastructure with high performance HCI and cloud-ready virtualisation. This helps customers simplify operations, improve cost predictability and prepare themselves for a hybrid multi cloud environment.
Helping customers modernise their virtualisation environment through detailed assessments, optimised Nutanix AHV architecture design, and carefully managed workload migrations that minimise risk and business disruption.
- Assessing virtualisation licensing
- Developing a tailored Nutanix AHV migration strategy
- Automating VM conversion
- Managing cutover to minimise risk and business disruption
Combining compute and storage into high-performance Nutanix nodes (often running on Dell PowerEdge hardware) to eliminate traditional SAN complexity.
- Staging and configuring infrastructure nodes
- Deploying unified storage resources
- Implementing centralised management for simplified day-to-day operations
Enabling customers to extend Nutanix seamlessly into the public cloud, providing greater workload mobility, operational flexibility and simplified disaster recovery across hybrid cloud environments.
- Implementing Nutanix NC2
- Automated data replication
- Orchestrated disaster recovery to improve resilience
- Simplify recovery across hybrid cloud environments

Case Study
Enterprise Data Centre Modernisation
Context
Modernising core data centre infrastructure for a regulated client requiring high compute performance and predictable costs.
Solution
Sword staged, configured, and deployed a high-density Dell PowerEdge server environment layered with Nutanix HCI software.
Outcome
Delivered a 30% performance increase, lower power consumption, total operational reliability, and freedom from legacy hypervisor lock-in.

More Information
The main reason organisations are considering Nutanix AHV as a VMware alternative is that it gives them enterprise virtualisation as part of an integrated infrastructure platform, potentially reducing licensing complexity, operational overhead and dependency on the VMware/Broadcom stack. AHV is a Type-1 hypervisor built on KVM and is included as part of Nutanix Cloud Infrastructure rather than being licensed as a separate hypervisor product.
Sword provides a structured, low-risk migration to Nutanix AHV, using automated workload replication and orchestrated cutover to minimise downtime and maintain business continuity throughout the transition
Using automated migration technologies such as Nutanix Move, we securely replicate live workloads in the background, validate the migration process and manage the final cutover to minimise risk and business disruption
However it is important to note that Nutanix is fully Vendor agnostic and can fundamentally run on any hardware platform, providing that Compute Platform has been properly sized and solutioned – this is how Sword can help and support our customers, by ensuring the right solution is positioned for the right application and workload.
